Forza teaches the graceful, empowering skill of Samurai sword training designed to build the body and mind. Everyday warriors will learn how to move and control the speed of a Japanese sword, the queen of all weapons.

You will strengthen and sculpt beautiful, lean muscles while training the mind to be still and focused throughout the challenging, fluid routines. This intense cardio class allows you to burn more than 500 calories in one hour.

Forza was developed more than ten years ago by Ilaria Montagnani who brings her passion for this art , normally reserved for warriors, making it accessible to anyone at any skill level. FORZA CERTIFICATION *NEW*

The revised FORZA Certification is divided into 3 parts, or modules.

FORZA INTENSIVE (M-1) is designed to set the foundation for anyone interested in learning how to properly use a sword and mastering the correct technique of Japanese Samurai sword fighting. This workshop is intense, mostly practical and will be physically demanding.

FORZA INSTRUCTOR TRAINING is geared to anyone that has completed M-1 and is interested in becoming a FORZA Instructor. During this training participants will learn how to teach various level of FORZA classes for Group Fitness and Private Training purposes

M-2 will be offered throughout the year at various times. Our new Powerstrike site will offer On going support for anyone interested in progressing from M1 to M2 and finally to M-3 with choreography and images to support proper technique and training.


FORZA INTENSIVE (M-1)

ï Learn how to use and cut with a wood sword
ï Develop incredible upper body and core strength
ï Learn how master the basic 10 Samurai strikes with both hands
ï Basic exercise drills
ï Advanced exercise drills
ï Open to everyone
ï 1 Full day training


FORZA INSTRUCTOR (M-2)

ï Progress to become a successful Forza Instructor by attending Module 2 of the Forza certification.

ï Participants of Module 1 will have 2 to 4 weeks time to practice cutting techniques and basic exercises

ï Participants have the option to repeat M-2 as many times as they need to perfect teaching skills

ï Participants will practice teaching, developing and mastering the skills required to teach various level of the FORZA class: the sequence, basic and advance choreography, cues and modifications

ï Participants will be evaluated based on their teaching skills, technique execution, class system, cueing and music knowledge and will have to pass the practical teaching test in order to become Instructors

ï Prerequisites: Completed Forza Basic (M-1), valid GF certification from AFAA or ACE, 32 counts music teaching knowledge, attend 4 (free) Forza classes anywhere in NY or practice with the Forza DVD

ï Participants will receive choreography notes at the end of M-1 to practice and prepare for M-2 and access to Powerstrike.com to receive additional choreography and ONGOING training support (the new Powerstrike site is being developed for 2010). Powerstrike Inc. will also provide upon demand private training sessions. In order to become Instructor, participants have to pass successfully M-2.

FORZA ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR (M-3)

ï Learn the Advanced cutting strikes: Blocks, Advanced Diagonal, One handed and balancing strikes

ï Learn how to challenge students after months of years of basic Forza exercises and combinations

ï Master more complex combinations of strikes and hand speed

ï Progress to a deeper understanding of the physical and mental aspect offered by sword training
